Hello from Ubatuba!
Yesterday, me and all my group of 10 birders had smashing views of the Sharpbill !!!
It was just ten yards from us and he had enough time to watch it thru. the scope.
What a bird!!!
Of Course: It is a Cotinga!!!
Some people / books calls it “Crested” Sharpbill but, being the only one Sharpbill in South America, there is no need to complicate his name that already says everything!
May you all have a great day & wonderful week!

I’m in New Jersey, USA.
I came for a Travel Show and also to present a lecture on Birds of Brazil.
Yesterday, I had a chance to go out for some birding with my host.
We got a some very nice birds such: Fox Sparrow, Tundra Swan, Hooded Merganser and Red-Headed Duck. Being this last one, seen by my host for the first time on that area!
A very interesting fact is: He has birding there for the past 25 years!
Very Best Regards,

Today, I would like to share with you a personal observation done by Thomas Sigrist, on his book: “Birds of Brazil”.
He says he had seen the Double-toothed Kite, following a group of monkeys, the reason would be the fact the monkeys where scaring cicadas. But, at a certain moment the monkey stopped for some rest. The Kite, then, started chasing the monkeys, trying to force them to continue moving thru. the branches!!!
That would be something wonderful to see!!!

Someone, once said: Birding in the afternoon is never as good, as birding in the morning – Specially, at the Tropics. This week, I had to go to the airport, very early in the morning – Before the sunrise… When, I returned home, I drove thru. a very nice area with Palm Trees – I could hear the birds & see some of the flying…What a wonderful way to start a day! It brought me memories of so many mornings that I birded in so many places in Brazil… The excitement of seeing birds all the day long…
